When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Cooker
I chose this image to show on my blog from the Met's website because I think it really makes a statement about what some children are aloud to do. This picture shows a child smoking a cigarette. In real life, this child is 2 years old. His mother, Maria Marshall, is the photographer of this photo. She took this shot of her son playing with a fake cigarette and with a certain type of photoshop program, added the wisps of smoke. It's almost frightening how real this looks because in everyday life this is not uncommon in some places of the world. She quoted, "Jake was only 2 when I was projecting him as a future addict." By using her son in this piece, this could lead to her son learning smoking is bad or he could very well become addicted in the future.
