GIF

For this project we were supposed to make two GIFs. For my first one I made a sun rising and setting but instead of just leaving it a white back-ground I took and animated country side and cut the image so when the sun rises and sets it appears to be doing so behind the hill. For my second GIF I did something similar but did a moon rising and setting. This was really fun to do. Making a GIF was cool because it was something new and having it be moving is really interesting.

(Moon GIF cannot be uploaded)

ReCover

I recreated the book cover of The Hunger Games for my next project. Honestly for this book cover, personally, I don't think it needed to be redone but I was having a hard time coming up with a book to recreate so I poorly did this one.

So for this second book cover, I recreated The Lord of the Rings. This cover was really cool to do because I watched a tutorial on how to create a spotlight and it turned out really cool. On by back up file for this particular cover, which is a psd, it has a red shadow on it that looks really cool but I don't know why it doesn't show up on the jpg version. Anyways, despite that minor flaw this cover was reallt fun and I think it turned out really cool.

WAHS Art Show

For this assignment we were to make a poster for WAHS's annual art show that would be held in Old Trail. I didn't really like this project. It was just kind of boring to do and I don't like the way I chose to do my poster. It was hard for my to think of something creative to do for this ad.

ESA

For this project we were supposed to create a logo for our schools new ESA program. Now by doing that I took hands holding the earth and blocked on the ESA letters. I also made a poster with it which I didn't really intend to do but it turned out alright. This was a little difficult at first because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do but once I did it was easy to create the logo.

Ads

For this project we were supposed to create two posters that advertise events. For my first ad I represented WAHS volleyball. I advertised a game against AHS by making a simple poster. I took a photo of my hands setting a volleyball and cropped it onto a black back-ground. It was really easy and I think it turned out pretty well.

My friend Abi Wagner was playing a show at MUDHOUSE with Lester Seal in September so I used that event as my second poster. This one was a lot better than the first. I took a senior picture that Abi had taken by Linda Hexter and used it for the advertisement. I also used the MUDHOUSE logo in the poster. This one was really fun and cool to do. It was fun helping advertise a friends opening.

Joiner Collage

This was the first project of the 2013-2014 year. This was the first project I've done on the new version of photoshop. For this Assignment we where supposed to take one original portrait and one original landscape view and cut the image up into smaller images and make a 'joiner" collage. For my landscape I used a picture I took 2 summers ago in San Marino, Italy. We were on the top of the mountain and my sister was on the bridge below me so I took a bunch of shots of the beautiful view.

This second picture is of one of my teammate Abigail Wagner. We play volleyball together and she is one of my favorite people in the world. I was looking for a portrait to use and came across this and thought it was perfect for this assignment. I really liked this project because, for me, it made the assignment personal because I was able to use an original image.

The Power of One Trilogy

For this assignment we were supposed to make three different projects based off of a movie we watched in class called The Power of One. For the first project, we were supposed to make a movie poster for the movie. A poster you'd see to advertise the movie outside of theaters. This was really fun to do because I wanted to incorporate all of the really important characters so I put all of them in the background of the poster and made the main character, Peekay, somewhat transparent.

For this part of the project, we were supposed to pick a word from the movie that would portray an importance. I chose the word POWER because it is in the title but it is obviously a powerful word and is just that in the movie. This project was fun also because you got to choose basically anything to do and I filled in the letters with a safari background and made that layer on top of a boxing gloves picture. I think it turned out to be really cool.

For this portion of the assignment we were to make a series of six projects that had to do with racism and or heritage/culture. So I did mine based on african culture. But instead of posting six different projects I put all six into one. I manipulated each individual picture by either putting a filter on it or desaturating a portion of the image or layering two different pictures together etc. I really liked this project and what I did with it because its all different parts of the culture almost coming together in a way. This was really fun to do and I like that I was able to be creative with the out coming product.

Color Wheel

For these projects we were supposed to make a stencil with an original photograph. I used a picture I took of my sister running in one of her conference meets for High Point University and an image of a bird. We were assigned to make six stencil cutouts and put color behind them or around them or whatever you wanted. These were really easy to do and fun to do.

When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Cooker

I chose this image to show on my blog from the Met's website because I think it really makes a statement about what some children are aloud to do. This picture shows a child smoking a cigarette. In real life, this child is 2 years old. His mother, Maria Marshall, is the photographer of this photo. She took this shot of her son playing with a fake cigarette and with a certain type of photoshop program, added the wisps of smoke. It's almost frightening how real this looks because in everyday life this is not uncommon in some places of the world. She quoted, "Jake was only 2 when I was projecting him as a future addict." By using her son in this piece, this could lead to her son learning smoking is bad or he could very well become addicted in the future.

Batesville Day T-shirt

For this project, we were supposed to design a T-shirt for the Batesville Day T-shirt contest. For my shirt, I concentrated on apple butter. Batesville is very well-known for their apple butter. So I took an apple butter jar and surrounded it with a granny smith, golden delicious and red apple. I had to photoshop in the Batesville apple butter logo onto the jar though to make it look like it was bought from the store. This project was really fun and I am excited to see what my classmates have come up with.

3D Chairs

For this project, we were assigned to make a 3D chair. The main idea for this assignment was to create a shadow. To create the shadow on this chair I used drop shadow and adjusted the settings a little bit. For this chair, I made an owl chair. I tool different animated owl patterns to make the back and legs of the chair. Then i used a common color, this happens to be a light blue, and painted over the cushion. This particular chair was a little difficult to do. I was the first one I did so I was getting used to it, but it was difficult creating the shadow on this chair.

This is my second chair. For this chair I used the egg shaped rocker. I used a cartooned spaceship pattern for this chair. I wanted it to be fun like the last one. As you can see I was more creative with this project because I created the room in the background. This chair was so much easier and more fun to do. I created the shadow in the same way but it didn't have any difficulties this time.

Comic Strip

For this project, I was in a group with Hannah and Lucas. We were supposed to make a comic strip. For our comic, we decided to use one of my previous projects as our character. The visual pun I made of a "cereal killer". It actually turned out really well. We thought the idea was kind of stupid at first but all of us were pretty happy with the result because it looks really neat. It was pretty easy to do after we played around with some things but the computer was acting funky for a bit. But overall it was easy and fun.

Midterm

This assignment was for our classes midterm grade. I took a personal photo of me and one of my best friends at a soccer tournament, and used photoshop to make it appear like a puzzle. The assignment was to use all of the tools we were taught how to use this year in one project. I used all of the tools that were listed on the guide. This project wasn't hard. It lets you be very creative because you are aloud to do whatever you want to in the project. For a midterm, this was very fun.
